These exciting plans for a high speed rail service will get you from Atlanta to Chattanooga in no time at all!
A possible high-speed rail system is being planned, connecting Chatanooga and Atlanta. News surrounding the topic show this project has been a focus area for the last few years. The train, reaching 180 mph would get you from one city to the next in no time.
The potential HSGT under consideration are the magnetic levitation and the steel-wheeled, both with certain benefits over the other options.
The following general station stops have also been considered:
- Downtown Chattanooga
- Lovell Field Airport (Chattanooga)
- Dalton/Chatsworth
- Rome
- Cartersville
- Rockmart
- Douglas County
- Town Center
- Cumberland / Galleria
- Boulder Park
- Downtown Atlanta
- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (HJAIA)
There will also be plenty of extra funding needed, as the project is still in its Tier 1 study, with sponsors and extra funding planned for their second tier strategy.
Would this high-speed rail service to Chatanooga benefit you? Do you think it would benefit Nashville? We’ll keep you posted as updates come regarding this exciting project.
